London-based alt-folk alchemist Seamus Fogarty released new album Ships to critical acclaim earlier this year via Scottish label Lost Map Records, and Swedish label Sing A Song Fighter. Since then, he has enjoyed widespread coverage across BBC6Music (“Fantastic!” Guy Garvey) and recorded a live session for Gideon Coe & Marc Riley, while BBC Radio 3’s Elizabeth Alker lauded the album’s mix of electronica, German avant-garde and Irish folk inspiration, summing it up neatly “It’s robotic, and it’s got soul’’. Is it any wonder Cillian Murphy has proclaimed Seamus to be ‘one of my favourite artists around at the moment'?
Augmenting his performances with a range of analog synths and drum machines and a stellar cast of supporting musicians, including multi-instrumentalist Emma Smith (Pulp, Beth Gibbons) and drummer Aram Zarikian (Grass Cut, Peaky Blinders), his live shows are no less ambitious and have seen him traveling around the UK both in a headline capacity and as an opening act on sold out shows & tours for fellow artists Lisa O’Neill, Katherine Priddy and This is the Kit. He also played to huge audiences on the Garden Stage at End Of The Road Festival, Green Man Festival and All Together Now and is soon to go on tour with The Delines, before embarking on a 13-date headline tour of Ireland in November.
January - March 2027 will see a 24-date UK tour across that arrives and culminates in London with a headline show at The Lexington on March 6th, celebrating the 1-year anniversary of the Ships releasehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSFzuwVyLKM
“One of my favourite artists around at the moment!”
Huw Stephens, BBC 6 Music
“…Seamus Fogarty, who I do think is fantastic!”
“To mix the electronica of the German avant-garde, with Irish folk inspiration, doing it so seamlessly, is no mean feat. It’s robotic, and it’s got soul!”
Elizabeth Alker, BBC Radio 3
“His latest album is a gently inventive showcase of his plaintive songwriting, leavened with wry humour, propelled by peppy arpeggiated rhythms and finessed with canny production...”
“Magical journeys through fable and modern life & back again, often in the same song’
“Nestles beautifully at the point where the digital and analogue worlds collide”
“The ghostly emotional wallop of the tunes will take your breath away”
“By turns gritty and poetic… a real original”
