Scott Matthews, is best known for playing Rock and Folk Blues. However, ever inventive, his exploration into music has seen forays into many eclectic styles.

Born in Wolverhampton during 1976, Matthews would have an early introduction to music when he received his first guitar at the age of seven and would proceed to live his life centred around music.

After playing with various local bands, he decided to strike out on his own and played his first solo gig in 2003. His thoughtful and complex music immediately struck a chord and by 2004 he was signed to the independent label San Remo Records who released his debut album; Passing Stranger.

In 2006 Matthews released his debut single Elusive which was championed by Jo Wiley and Dermot O’ Leary receiving a large amount of airplay on their BBC radio programmes. Tender and soulful, the song was played nightly by Zane Lowe who declared it his Single Of The Week. Critics agreed, and in 2007 the song won him an Ivor Novello award for “Best Song Musically and Lyrically”.

With the prominent airplay and peer recognition came even greater waves on interest and with it came a licencing deal with Universal Island Records for the release of the second album, Elsewhere, in 2009.

To date, Scott Matthews has released a live album and a total of four studio albums, including the intriguing Home (Part1) which was recorded in his home studio and released in 2014 through Thirty Tigers, an entertainment company based in Nashville, Tennessee. Continuing this project new album Home (Part 2) will be released on Shedio Records, and will be out soon.

With his gentle humour, soft compelling vocals and deep melodies, Scott Matthews is a talented performer having accomplished many sell out headline tours. He has also been invited to open so of the world’s greatest talent including Foo Fighters, Robert Plant, Tori Amos, Rufus Wainwright and Snow Patrol.

This year sees Matthews playing a number of excellent headline dates later in the year. See him play at Bristol Thekla, The Cookie at Leicester, The Bodega Social in Nottingham and Ruby Lounge in Manchester before pushing on to Waterfront Studio in Norwich and O2 Academy2 Oxford during November. The tour continues to Yorkshire where he will place Brudenell Social Club in Leeds and Plug at Sheffield. Then, in December he also plays Zephy Lounge at Leamington Spa and Islington Assembly Hall in London.
