Hi Nottingham - we'd love it if you could join us for our first regular session of 'Pints & Politics' where we'll be asking the question 'Should we tax the rich to fix the economy?'
Not your typical politics event - Pints & Politics evenings are designed to be an informal space to learn about the big issues in our society, how decisions that affect us get made and to share your thoughts on how they impact you and what we can do about them locally.
Non partisan and focussed on community - We’re not affiliated to a political party and are community based. The aim isn’t to score points or convince others of your opinion - it’s not a debate club. It’s a place for us to learn together. It's for everyone who is curious about the world around them and wants to build community and take action for a better world where all of us can thrive.
On the night - Join us at The Grove in Sneinton Market on 8th July at 7pm for our first regular event, following our bank holiday launch party! This time we'll be focussing on all things wealth taxes - taking time to understand how the tax system works, what different forms of taxation could look like and the arguments for and against wealth taxes. The evening will include some fun themed activities to warm us up, structured input on the issue and group discussions to understand your key questions and opinions. As well as a chance to meet new people over snacks and generally just have a good time!
To get your free ticket simply sign up here. We're a grassroots group with no funding to subsidise these events and rely on community support. We will always make sure there are free tickets and money isn't a barrier to attend, to make this possible optional donations to help us cover costs will be taken on the door. Drinks will be available to purchase at the bar, and we will have snacks available, again with optional donations.
Please share far and wide - we’d love to have you with us 😊
*Oh and we went with pints & politics because it sounds good - alliteration and all that - Other drinks (including non alcoholic drinks) obviously available, and responsible drinking very much encouraged.
