Vocalist Paul Carrack is known for his distinctive voice which has led to him being dubbed by the BBC as “The Man With The Golden Voice”. The supremely talented musician has enjoyed an amazing solo career and has been recruited by many for his skill as a songwriter and keyboardist.

Paul Melvyn Carrack first started his career with the jazz rock band Warm Dust but he rose to the public’s attention with his band Ace. The pub rock band established just as the genre was on the rise in 1972 and so were poised perfectly to hit a wide audience. Their hit 1975 single How Long? saw them find fame in both the UK and USA. They disbanded in 1977 and Carrack then worked with Roxy Music on the keyboard.

In 1981 Carrack joined the band Squeeze following the departure of Jools Holland. Working on keys and providing vocals, he was featured prominently on the album East Side Story and he enjoyed State side success with the song Tempted.

Carrack joined Mike + The Mechanics in 1985 and co-wrote the single Over My Shoulder and was the lead singer on their hit single Silent Running. He enjoyed success with the band when they hit #2 in the UK and #1 in America with the song The Living Years.

He also joined Roger Water’s backing band named The Bleeding Heart Band in 1986 and recorded the soundtrack for film When The Wind Blows. Whilst on tour with Waters he would often play as the unofficial support act.

Carrack has worked as a session musician for other greats such as The Smiths, The Pretenders, Ringo Star, Eric Clapton, BB King and Elton John.
