About Otis Gibbs

Otis Gibbs is an American alt-country singer-songwriter and podcaster who has independently released several albums since 2002. Raised in Wanamaker, Indiana, he began performing at an early age and later worked for over a decade as a tree planter in Indiana, planting what he estimates to be over 7,000 trees. His music features stories about everyday life and has been compared to artists like Woody Guthrie, Tom T. Hall, Kris Kristofferson, and Townes Van Zandt. Gibbs has been described as "the best unknown songwriter in music today" and "a literate hobo" by critics.

In addition to his music career, Gibbs hosts the podcast Thanks for Giving a Damn, featuring interviews with musicians, journalists, and historians. He has also hosted Country Built on Pandora, where he shares stories about the history of country music. Gibbs' discography includes albums such as Joe Hill's Ashes (2010), Souvenirs of a Misspent Youth (2014), Mount Renraw (2017), and Hoosier National (2020). He continues to perform and record, maintaining an independent approach to his music and storytelling.
