Spotlight On: Paloma Faith Gigantic Tickets

Paloma Faith is the 21st century sound of soul and R&B. The "Picking Up the Pieces" singer achieved multi-platinum sales with her records Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?, Fall to Grace plus A Perfect Contradiction and hit No. 1 with The Architect.

This year, the star released her latest album The Glorification of Sadness which crashed into the Top 10 once again. She celebrates by playing unmissable headline shows at High Lodge in Thetford Forest plus Dreamland in Margate. Both concerts are held in a stunning setting and see her play new material and classic hits. Tickets are on sale with Gigantic Tickets.

Paloma Faith has also written her memoir Motherhood, Identity, Love & F*ckery which sees her explore the complexities of a woman navigating the music industry. It details Paloma’s coming of age in the public eye, identifying problems of patriarchy as her choices come into conflict with society’s expectations. Paloma will discuss her book and the issues it raises at a series of conversation events at Manchester's New Century, Union Chapel in Islington and the Octagon Centre in Sheffield.

Hackney-born popstar Paloma Faith was drawn to such jazz and soul greats as Etta James and Billie Holiday from an early age. Originally leading the band Paloma and the Penetrators as a college student, she was spotted by talent scouts from Epic Records and signed to the major label.

Paloma was met with instant success, seeing debut single "Stone Cold Sober" and second release "New York" break into the Top 20 in 2009. Both tracks would feature on her first album Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful? which peaked at No. 9 and confirmed the arrival of a new star on the scene, later reaching 2x Platinum sales.

Following her nomination for British Female Solo Artist at the 2011 BRIT Awards, Paloma released her signature song "Picking Up the Pieces". It would be the lead single on her second LP Fall to Grace which narrowly missed out on topping the charts thanks to the huge popularity of the song. The record would result in a further two nominations at the 2013 BRIT Awards for Best Female and for Best British Album, again reaching 2x Platinum certification.

Riding high, Paloma released her third album A Perfect Contradiction in 2013 which became her fastest-selling album to date, quickly reaching the same sales levels as her previous records. Then, in 2017 Paloma would finally hit No. 1 with The Architect. Both an artist triumph and a commercial success, The Architect explored political issues of poverty and politics and marked a major creative accomplishment for the artist who knocked Taylor Swift’s Reputation off the top position.

Paloma’s more recent work has taken a more reflective tone, giving personal insights into grief, loss, and relationships. Her 2020 album Infinite Things featured covers of "Make Your Own Kind of Music" and "I've Gotta Be Me". Infinite Things had originally been written before the outbreak of the pandemic, but the great upheaval prompted a period of introspection which caused the songwriter to start afresh while in lockdown. Paloma also taught herself how to engineer and proudly saw her intimate record break into the Top 10 once again.

Her latest title The Glorification of Sadness is a revealing record, reflecting upon Paloma’s breakup with long-term partner Leyman Lahcine. Songs like "How You Leave a Man" and "Bad Woman" explore the turmoil caused by the end of love, and the feelings of empowerment she experienced as she began to take charge of her life once again.

See Paloma Faith play outdoor headline shows this summer. Plus, join her in conversation about her new book Motherhood, Identity, Love & F*ckery when you buy tickets with Gigantic.
