Mike Dawes is an English guitarist who has redrawn the boundaries of solo acoustic playing, coaxing basslines, melodies, percussion and harmonies from one instrument all at once. Regarded as one of the most inventive fingerstyle players around, he was voted 'Best Acoustic Guitarist in the World' by readers of Total Guitar and MusicRadar two years running, in 2017 and 2018, while Rick Beato has called him "one of the finest acoustic guitar players in the world". His breakthrough came with a solo arrangement of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know", which racked up tens of millions of views, and he has since built a vast online following with pieces such as "One", "The Impossible" and "Jump".
Away from his own material, Dawes has recorded with GRAMMY-winning guitarist Tommy Emmanuel, worked alongside Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues, and collaborated with GRAMMY-nominated metal band Periphery. A respected educator and session player, his playing also reaches the screen, from Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown to AMC's Better Call Saul. Live, he is a true one-man band — a show that has to be seen to be believed.
