Matt Bianco, the UK group formed in 1982 by Mark Reilly (vocals), Danny White (keyboards), and Kito Poncioni (bass), emerged from the breakup of Blue Rondo à la Turk. Their debut album, Whose Side Are You On? (1984), introduced the world to Polish vocalist Basia and catapulted the band to fame with hits like “Get Out Of Your Lazy Bed,” “Half A Minute,” and “More Than I Can Bear.”
Following Basia and Danny White’s departure to pursue a solo career, Mark Reilly continued Matt Bianco’s success, teaming up with keyboardist Mark Fisher for the self-titled Matt Bianco (1986), which featured the hit “Yeh Yeh.” Their 1988 album Indigo, produced by Emilio Estefan, delivered fan favourites such as “Don’t Blame It On That Girl,” “Good Times,” and “Wap Bam Boogie.”
Today, Matt Bianco remains a vital force in UK jazz and Latin jazz, collaborating with top UK musicians and Dutch jazz ensemble New Cool Collective for two acclaimed albums.
