Kathryn Williams is a Liverpudlian folk singer-songwriter celebrated for her delicate vocals, poetic lyricism and understated acoustic sound. She began her career with Dog Leap Stairs (1999), a self-recorded debut made on a shoestring budget of just £80, whose homespun charm won her early acclaim. Her follow-up, Little Black Numbers (2000), earned a Mercury Prize nomination and cemented her as one of the UK’s most affecting contemporary folk voices.
Across fourteen albums, Williams has crafted an impressive and consistent body of work, collaborating with artists including Ed Harcourt and Neill MacColl. Her 2022 release Night Drives explores themes of memory, love and distance, carried by her trademark warmth and lyrical grace. Away from music, she has also published her debut novel The Ormering Tide, further showcasing her gift for storytelling in all its quiet beauty.
