Holly Macve is an Irish-born, UK-based singer-songwriter known for her evocative blend of folk and alt-country, drawing inspiration from the emotional depth of her songwriting and cinematic influences. Raised in West Yorkshire, Holly’s music is enriched by her family’s musical background, with her Irish grandfather being a classical composer and her mother, a music therapist, introducing her to a wide variety of blues, folk, and Americana artists. Her debut album Golden Eagle (2016) earned critical acclaim, and she followed this up with Not the Girl in 2021, a record shaped by personal growth and exploration, supported by a grant from the Arts Council to help bring her artistic vision to life.
Her songs often reflect her literary influences, with tracks like "Eye of the Storm" and the album’s title inspired by works such as William Blake’s poetry and Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar. Holly has cultivated a loyal following through extensive live performances, and despite setbacks like the pandemic, she continues to build on her musical career, with her unique style resonating deeply with audiences.
