Grey Daze formed in 1993 in Phoenix, Arizona, around drummer Sean Dowdell and vocalist Chester Bennington. They cut their teeth in the local scene and released early albums such as Wake Me (1994) and …No Sun Today (1997). After Chester moved on to join Linkin Park, the group pressed pause — but in the years that followed they revisited that early material, re-recording instrumentals around Bennington’s 1990s vocals and releasing Amends (2020).
In more recent years, Grey Daze released The Phoenix (2022), continuing their mission to honour the band’s roots and Chester’s voice. While their early UK tour history is less documented than major stadium acts, their lasting influence and revival have been appreciated by alternative-rock audiences and they remain a compelling example of a band reconnecting with its past.
