Gideon are a powerhouse metalcore band from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, formed in 2008 by drummer Jake Smelley, vocalist Daniel McWhorter, guitarist Tyler Riley and bassist Caleb DeRusha. Their debut Costs (2011) and follow-up Milestone (2012) established them as a fierce new voice in hardcore, while Calloused (2014) and Cold (2017) pushed their sound into darker, more aggressive territory. By the time Out of Control arrived in 2019, Gideon had carved a reputation for mixing hardcore ferocity with groove-driven riffs, earning a loyal following on both sides of the Atlantic.
In 2023, Gideon released More Power. More Pain., a record that captured the full intensity of their live shows and reaffirmed their status as one of the genre’s most uncompromising bands. Known for blistering performances at festivals and on tour with the likes of For Today, Wage War and The Ghost Inside, they have become a staple of the global hardcore scene. With every release, Gideon continue to channel raw emotion and unrelenting energy, making them a band that thrives on passion, power and connection with their fans.
