Elbow, The Piece Hall, Halifax - 30th June 2019

I would have given this wonderful band 5 stars, but for the fact that they played for just 90 minutes, with no encore.
The support acts were (mostly) good, the venue (Halifax piece Hall) amazing! Even the weather was great. Elbow are still, very much, a band well worth seeing live...They do not disappoint.

Absolutely loved Elbow. Fantastic performance, funny and sweet chat from Guy, great audience involvement. Our only complaint was the disgraceful performance from the penultimate support band. Apparently had been to Glastonbury the day before...out of tune, rude, dismissive, lead singer could barely stand let alone sing. Said they'd donate their fee to charity...only sensible thing that came out of his mouth. However well worth the trip for Elboe and the other 3 supports were fine.

Absolutely amazing venue and Guy Garvey had the crowd eating out his hands, such a funny bloke.

Elbow, Delamere Forest, Northwich - 30th June 2017

I loved Elbow (though not the support) having never seen them live before. I'll certainly try to again. The sound balance was excellent.
Our evening was in danger of being spoilt by an inconsiderate group who came in well after us, stood talking loudly and not taking any interest in the concert and getting more affected by the considerable amount of alcohol they were drinking. Some people starting telling them to move so we could see and one of them in particular got upset and offensive saying others were standing - but at least they were listening to the band. They did eventually move - blocking others' views - but still didn't bother with the concert.
As the concert went on more people came in around us and some were smoking continuously - which personally I find objectionable and am not prepared to be tolerant about. Why should I be inconvenienced so others can indulge their addiction?
Finally, the lighting was good but it was all back lighting so the group were largely silhouettes with no spots from the front. Perhaps the lack of forward towers made that difficult but it was slightly strange.
So, all the negatives were nothing to do with the band - consequently my rating is for them.

Award winning alternative band Elbow inhabit the very heart of melancholic rock. Producing a sweet wistfulness feel of nostalgia whilst simultaneously always remaining urgent and modern, Elbow tap into the traditions of the past and ally themselves with progress to become modern anthemic greats.

They have released seven studio albums so far, including their highly praised fourth record The Seldom Seen Kid which took home the Mercury Music Prize and saw them later win Best British Group at the 2009 Brit Awards. They have also taken home two Ivor Novello Awards.

Band members include guitarists Mark Potter and Guy Garvey who takes lead vocals, with Craig Potter on keys and Pete Turner playing bass.

They now look to the new year, and with it comes the announcement that they will be a magnificent headliner for Sounds Of The City in Manchester at Castlefield Bowl which takes place on Tuesday 9th of July 2019.

These Elbow tickets will soon be available through Gigantic. Expected to sell fast, we advise you to set a personal reminder to arrive to you via text message or email make you ready for their release at 09:30 on Friday 30th November.

Elbow’s rise over the past two decades has seen them become one of the most important bands in contemporary British music. Since debut album, 2001’s ‘Asleep At The Back’ their stature has grown with subsequent releases such as ‘Cast of Thousands’, ‘Leaders Of The Free World’, ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’, ‘Build A Rocket Boys’ and 2014’s ‘The Take Off And Landing Of Everything’ that debuted at the top of the U.K. charts. Front man Guy Garvey’s story-telling lyrics have honed their unique identity and sound to establish the band a passionate fan base and critical acclaim on their musical journey including two Ivor Novellos and a BRIT award for Best British Band.

Renowned for the intimacy of their live shows, stand-out gigs include Glastonbury Festival’s sunset slot with a trio of sets on the Pyramid Stage, taking part in the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games performing their classic track ‘One Day Like This’ and recreating their Mercury Prize winning album, ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’, with the BBC Concert Orchestra from the world famous Abbey Road Studio One.
