Dilettante is the genre-defying project led by multi-instrumentalist and former BC Camplight member Francesca Pidgeon. Known for her dynamic live shows, Dilettante blends everything from fuzzy guitar riffs to intricate 5-part saxophone harmonies. With sold-out headline performances in cities like Manchester, Leeds, Halifax, and London, Dilettante’s vibrant, genre-phobic sound has won fans across the UK. The band has supported artists like Self Esteem, Caribou, Graham Coxon (Blur), and Philip Selway (Radiohead), while also gracing the stages of renowned festivals such as Kendal Calling, Live at Leeds, and The Great Escape.
Their debut album Tantrum (2022) showcased their unique fusion of experimental sounds and engaging melodies. In addition to her musical accomplishments, Francesca Pidgeon was honoured with the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award for Artists and has begun making waves in film scoring, earning a nomination for Best Composer at the Underwire Film Festival. The live band features Francesca alongside Aaron Collins-Wood (bass), Jack Mee (drums), Katie Pham (guitar/synth/vocals/percussion), Caitlin Laing-McEvoy (sax/synth/vocals), and Robin Koob (violin/synth/vocals), performing in various configurations.
