Crystal Fighters are a fusion of genres bringing together cutting edge electronica with more traditional sounds such as Basque folk percussion and the use of the txistu pipe whistle. Blending together such a wide range of culture influences makes them wildly exciting.
The vastly talented and multi-instrumental band consists of lead vocalist Sebastian Pringle who also plays guitar, guitarist and txalaparta player Graham Dickson, vocalists Clarissa Land and Eleanor Fletcher plus Gilbert Vierich who plays guitar, txalaparta and responsible for their electronic sound.
The band take their name from an unfinished opera penned by the grandfather of former member Laure Stockley. Apparently the manuscript was found following his death and explored esoteric themes dealing with the nature of mysteries of the universe, the power of the sun and how to become at peace with death. Inspired by his passion and purpose, they adopted the name and incorporate the ideas in their music.
After making some releases through the infinitely cool label Kitsuné they signed to Atlantic Records and in 2010 they released their debut album titled Star Of Love. Creative and eclectic, the album saw them rocket though many genres to create something truly unique.
Their second album Cave Rave was released in 2013. It saw the band draw on such wide influences that stretched from folk from the Basque country to electronica and dubstep.
