Charlie Parr is an American country-blues and roots singer-songwriter whose spare, haunting style feels both timeless and deeply personal. Born in 1967 in Austin, Minnesota and now based in Duluth, he discovered his musical path early by absorbing the sounds of Lightnin’ Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, Bukka White and the Anthology of American Folk Music. He released his debut album Criminals and Sinners in 2002 and has since recorded over a dozen studio albums, including Stumpjumper (2015) and Dog (2017). His most recent record is Little Sun (2024).
Though based in the US, Parr tours extensively in Europe and has cultivated a devoted UK following. He’s played in intimate folk clubs and on festival stages, bringing his resonator guitar, banjo and voice to audiences who treasure deep roots music. His storytelling is down-to-earth yet philosophical, weaving themes of loss, redemption, nature and the everyday.
