Born in Ripon, North Yorkshire, she first gained attention as a teenager with her debut EP, Ribbon (2014), which showcased her soft yet emotionally rich songwriting. Her debut album, Writing of Blues and Yellows (2016), was praised for its gentle acoustic textures and poetic lyricism, drawing comparisons to artists like Laura Marling and Nick Drake.
Since then, Marten has continued to refine her sound, releasing Feeding Seahorses by Hand (2019), Flora Fauna (2021), and Drop Cherries (2023), each album marking an evolution in her sonic depth and lyrical maturity. Her music, blending folk, indie, and subtle electronic elements, has earned her a loyal following and spots at major festivals, including Glastonbury and Latitude.
