If you'd like to be the first to know when new events are announced, you can follow Angelfish below.
Angelfish were a Scottish alternative rock band active in the early 1990s, born out of Edinburgh and emerging as a side project to Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie. Fronted by Shirley Manson, who initially served as keyboardist and backing vocalist in the parent band, Angelfish gave her the role of lead singer and shifted into a darker, dreamier musical realm. Their sound echoed with shimmering guitars, moody textures and Manson’s haunting, resonant voice — a bridge between post-punk spirit and the more ethereal edges of alternative rock.
They released exactly one album, Angelfish (1994), and a pair of promotional singles such as the EP Suffocate Me and “Heartbreak to Hate.” The video for “Suffocate Me” famously aired once during MTV’s 120 Minutes, where it caught the attention of Garbage co-founder Steve Marker — leading ultimately to Shirley Manson joining Garbage and Angelfish’s dissolution. Though brief, their legacy endures as a crucial moment in Manson’s rise and a compelling snapshot of ’90s Scottish alt-rock.
