About Alison Moyet

Alison Moyet is a celebrated British singer, songwriter, and performer, known for her powerful voice and iconic blend of pop, synth-pop, and blues influences. Gaining fame in the early 1980s as the lead vocalist of the synth-pop duo Yazoo, alongside Vince Clarke of Depeche Mode, she quickly established herself as one of the era's most distinctive voices. With hits like "Only You" and "Situation," Yazoo's sound captured a blend of electronic innovation and emotional depth.


Moyet's solo career took off after the duo disbanded, with her debut album Alf (1984) featuring the huge hit "Love Resurrection." Her signature contralto voice became synonymous with heartfelt ballads and uptempo hits alike, and she continued to enjoy commercial success through the decades with albums like Hoodoo (1991) and The Minutes (2013). Throughout her career, Alison Moyet has continued to evolve her sound, embracing a mix of soul, blues, and electronic music, while maintaining the raw, emotional core that defines her artistry. In 2021, her album Other received critical acclaim for its introspective lyrics and unique musical direction, showcasing her ability to remain a powerful force in contemporary music.
