Preston-born thrash metal veterans, hailed as one of the "Big Four" of the British scene and famous for turning the *Ghostbusters* theme into a headbanging anthem.
Few bands fly the flag for British thrash metal quite like Xentrix. Formed in Preston back in 1984 as Sweet Vengeance, they took on the Xentrix name in 1988 and quickly made their mark, earning a five-star rating from Kerrang! that caught the attention of Roadrunner Records. Their debut album, Shattered Existence (1989), helped establish them as one of the so-called "Big Four" of English thrash, alongside Acid Reign, Onslaught and Sabbat. They also picked up a fair bit of notoriety for their tongue-in-cheek thrash cover of the "Ghostbusters" theme, whose original artwork was famously withdrawn.
Over the years they've released a string of well-regarded albums, from For Whose Advantage? and Kin through to more recent records Bury the Pain and Seven Words, the latter reaching number 39 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart. Along the way they've shared stages with the likes of Slayer, Sepultura, Testament and Overkill, and become a much-loved presence at Bloodstock. Decades on, Xentrix remain a tight, ferocious live act with riffs built for the pit.
