Vinnie Caruana is the raspy-voiced frontman of Long Island punk favourites The Movielife and Brooklyn's I Am The Avalanche, and a heartfelt solo songwriter in his own right.
Vinnie Caruana has been a much-loved voice in New York punk since the late 1990s, when he became frontman of Long Island's The Movielife. The band built a devoted following with records such as Forty Hour Train Back to Penn (2003), and when they split, Caruana went on to found Brooklyn's I Am The Avalanche. Their catalogue includes a self-titled debut (2005), Avalanche United (2011), Wolverines (2014), DIVE (2020) and The Horror Show (2026). The Movielife have since reunited too, returning with Cities in Search of a Heart (2017) and bringing their melodic hardcore to UK stages, including Slam Dunk Festival.
Caruana never sits still. He has also sung in the hardcore projects Peace'd Out and Constant Elevation, while carving out a more intimate solo path. His largely acoustic 2013 EP City by the Sea was followed by his debut solo album Survivor's Guilt (2016) and the reflective Aging Frontman EP (2019). Whether he's leading a full band or playing stripped back with an acoustic guitar, expect a powerful, raspy voice, honest songwriting and the kind of big-hearted connection with the crowd that has kept fans coming back for decades.
