About villagerrr

Villagerrr began as the solo home-recording project of Columbus, Ohio songwriter Mark Scott, and has since grown into something richer and more collaborative. His big, midwestern songs move easily between slowcore, shoegaze, log-cabin folk and the kind of expansive, open-road indie rock made for long drives, all carried by a keen eye for small details and sweeping landscapes alike.

The turning point came with Tear Your Heart Out (2024), his label debut for Winspear, which widened his audience and led to tours sharing stages with Real Estate, Greg Freeman and Momma. Scott has carried that collaborative spirit into his fifth album, Carousel, weaving in contributions from friends and peers including Boone Patrello of Teethe, h. pruz and Carolina Chauffe of Hemlock. Bold yet delicate, it is a sincere, searching record about finding genuine connection in an overexposed age — proof that opening yourself up to other people can spark something quietly beautiful.
