Venezuela All Stars
The Jazz Cafe, London
Doors at 19:00 | Ends: 22:30
Born and raised in Caracas, Baldo Verdú grew up in a family of folkloric and classical musicians, and percussion came first. Afro-Venezuelan drumming gave him a route into the roots and traditions of his people, before the guitar opened the door to soul, pop, funk and electronic music. Now based in London, he pairs soulful pop melodies with Afro-Latin drums for an upbeat sound shaped by both the pull of home and the thrill of new cultural horizons. He's also a key member of Rio 18, the international collective formed by Welsh songwriter Carwyn Ellis, and played SXSW London in 2025.
This show sees him bring his solo material to the stage in a tribute to Venezuela's traditional fiestas de tambores, the drum festivities rooted in Afro-Venezuelan culture. He's joined by a line-up of exceptional percussionists and musicians, connecting those folkloric rhythms with the sounds of contemporary London. Expect a night of rhythm, song and community spirit, with proceeds supporting UK charity Healing Venezuela and its relief work following the June 2026 earthquakes.
