Tyler Ramsey is a fingerstyle guitarist and songwriter based outside Asheville, North Carolina, known for his intricate playing and quietly captivating voice within modern indie folk. He first gained wider recognition as a key member of Band of Horses, where his guitar work and introspective songwriting helped shape the band’s expansive sound across three studio albums. His approach blends technical precision with emotional restraint, creating songs that feel intimate while still carrying a sense of scale and atmosphere.
As a solo artist, Ramsey has continued to refine a distinctive musical identity through a series of acclaimed releases. Albums such as For the Morning (2019) highlight his signature mix of fingerpicked guitar, pedal steel and subtle rock textures, while New Lost Ages (2024), produced by Phil Ek, expands his sound with sweeping arrangements and hushed, reflective moments. Alongside his solo work, he has also collaborated with My Morning Jacket guitarist Carl Broemel on the album Celestun, a project built around shared vocals and interwoven acoustic guitar parts that underscores his collaborative spirit and evolving artistry.
