An all-star big band celebration of Tomorrow's Warriors, the organisation that helped shape the sound of modern British jazz.
Friday 2nd October 2026
The Jazz Cafe, London
Doors at 18:30
Since 1991, Tomorrow's Warriors has quietly transformed the landscape of British jazz. Founded by bassist Gary Crosby and Janine Irons, this pioneering charity set out to open doors for young musicians from diverse backgrounds who might otherwise have been locked out of the industry, and the results speak for themselves. Its alumni read like a roll call of the modern UK scene, from Nubya Garcia, Moses Boyd and Zara McFarlane to Ezra Collective, who became the first jazz act to win the Mercury Prize.
This evening gathers multiple generations of that remarkable community on one stage. Led by the Tomorrow's Warriors Big Band and joined by a line-up of returning alumni whose stories all began within the Warriors family, it is a celebration built around collaboration, featuring bold new arrangements and special guest-led performances. Expect the warmth, invention and sheer musical firepower that only a big band raised on this ethos can deliver, in a heartfelt tribute to one of British music's most enduring and important creative communities.
