The Meteors are not only the pioneers of the psychobilly sound – they consider themselves to be the only true band of the genre.
Formed in 1980; The Meteors original line up included P. Paul Fenech (guitar /vocals), Nigel Lewis (upright bass / bass, vocals), and Mark Robertson (drums). They deviated wildly from the punk rock scene that initially inspired them, drawing on a darker and more atmospheric sound that embraced an experimental foray towards horror and science fiction influences.

A little trip down Memory Lane for me and a chance to relive my misspent youth in "Sarf Lunnun". A little rougher around the edges but still unmistakably The Meteors. Not a big crowd but the action at the front was lively enough. A great night, I'll try not to wait another 20 odd years before the next time!
