The Mercians are an indie-rock band from Leicester, who celebrate their hometown and their roots with their relatable lyrics.
Named after the Anglo-Saxon name for the Midlands, The Mercians are bringing back the raw, unfiltered sound that the region is known for. Think Sam Fender meets Catfish and the Bottlemen, but with a gritty, down-to-earth edge that sets them apart. Their music is a mix of politics, emotion and raw talent. The band’s sound is reminiscent of the British indie rock revival of the early 2000s, but with a fresh and modern twist.
These working-class lads craft gritty, transparent, and relatable tracks that delve into real-life situations. Their debut single "Dreamseller" exposed an industry conman who syphoned £8000 from the band’s pockets.
As their fanbase rallies behind them, The Mercians stand strong. To truly appreciate the band’s full capability, witnessing their live show is an absolute must.
