The Barr Brothers are a mesmerising indie-folk outfit based in Montreal, composed of American brothers Brad (guitar/vocals) and Andrew Barr (drums/vocals/keys), plus a rotating cast of multi-instrumentalists including harpist Éveline Grégoire-Rousseau and bassist Morgan Moore. Rooted in the brothers’ previous work with the experimental jam-rock group The Slip, the band formed in 2006 and quickly established a sound that blends Appalachian folk, Delta blues, African rhythms and subtle electronic textures.
Their debut album The Barr Brothers (2011) introduced listeners to their warm, wide-open soundscapes. Their follow-up Sleeping Operator (2014) deepened the sonic palette with influences from West and North African music. Live, the band’s reputation has grown through UK and European appearances, where their intricate instrumentation and hypnotic grooves translate into captivating performances. Their most recent album Let It Hiss (2025) continues to evolve their sound while keeping the emotional heartbeat of their earlier records.
