Samantha Crain is a Choctaw singer-songwriter, musician and producer from Shawnee, Oklahoma. She has released several critically acclaimed albums, including Kid Face (2013), Under Branch & Thorn & Tree (2015), A Small Death (2020) and I Guess We Live Here Now (2021). Her latest album, Gumshoe (2025), blends folk rock with cinematic storytelling, earning praise for its introspective lyrics and emotive delivery. Crain has been recognised with multiple Native American Music Awards, including Folk Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year in 2009, and Single of the Year in 2022 for “Bloomsday”.
Her music has been featured in films and television series such as 90210, Hung, Barking Water, The Dark Divide, Resident Alien, Reservation Dogs, Echo and Unreserved: The Work of Louie Gong. She has also composed for cultural projects, including the T.C. Cannon exhibit at the Peabody Essex Museum, and scored films such as Fancy Dance (2022) and the documentaries Winding Path (2024) and Drowned Land (2024). Crain’s live shows and recordings highlight her ability to blend folk sensibilities with cinematic scope, establishing her as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary music.
