Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley

This Christmas, return to the world of Pride and Prejudice... but from an entirely different perspective.
At Pemberley, the Bennet family reunites for the festive season. While Elizabeth and Jane seem to have found the lives they were always destined for, Mary Bennet remains trapped by the role everyone has written for her: the awkward sister, the afterthought, the woman no one expects to surprise them. That is until Lord Arthur de Bourgh arrives for the festivities, offering Mary the possibility of a wholly different future.

Smart, funny and emotionally incisive, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley gives Jane Austen‘s most overlooked heroine the story she was never allowed to have. Exploring identity, belonging and the quiet courage it takes to rewrite your own narrative, this UK premiere of Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon‘s smash hit play is both a loving continuation of Austen’s world and a fresh, contemporary drama of its own.

Whether you’re returning to Austen or meeting the Bennets for the first time, this is a witty, surprising and deeply human play about family loyalties, old assumptions and the possibility of becoming exactly who you were never expected to be.

Park Theatre and Adam Blanshay Productions present the UK Premiere of Miss Bennet.

Park Theatre is the brainchild of Artistic Director, Jez Bond, and Creative Director, Melli Bond, who – following a six year London-wide search for a building – discovered a vacant office block next to Finsbury Park station in 2010. Garnering support from the theatre community at large – including luminaries such as Ian McKellen and Alan Rickman, the press and, importantly, local residents – they set out to raise the necessary funds to convert the tired concrete building into a thriving new theatre and beacon for the community. At a cost of just £2.6 million, the building, designed by David Hughes Architects, opened in May 2013 to rave reviews from the critics.

Nearest Tube station is Finsbury Park (Station Place Exit). Exit left out of Station Place then left and under the bridge. Then second left onto Morris Place, Park Theatre is at the end.

Travel by train: Old Street, Moorgate. Nearest tube: Kings Cross
