Canada has a reputation for turning out some pretty good musicians. From ballad songstress Celine Dion to rockers Nickelback, Canada has been producing all types of musical excellence for years. Metric are right up there, a poppy, indie band that has been a big hit on the festival circuit and has built up a solid following over the past 17 years. With some acclaimed studio albums behind them and a powerful live set, Metric are a welcome addition to any summer/autumn tour schedule. This year they head over to the UK for a series of dates during October, and fortunately at Gigantic we have a selection of Metric concert tickets on offer. Metric play Roundhouse in London on Wednesday the 1st of Feb. This is the only chance this year to catch the band so far, and we anticipate that demand for Metric tickets will be high. Although originating in Canada, Metric have made various locations their home over the years, including LA, London and New York. This may account for their somewhat eclectic sound - a fusion of experimental synth pop, new wave, dance-rock, and electronica. However, whereas normally this mash-up of styles would end up clashing, Metric have managed to make them gel and have constructed a unique and instantly recognisable sound of their own. A hit with festival goers as well as record collectors, they are as strong live as they are in the studio, and their professionalism and technical skill creates a slick and sophisticated live experience that never falls short on passion. A solid back catalogue of studio albums ranges from their 2003 debut ‘Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?’ to the most recent ‘Pagans in Vegas’, released this year has garnered a clutch of awards, including five CASBY and four Juno awards. Today, Metric show no signs of taking things easy, despite their longevity in the business. They’re touring and working on studio releases just as energetically as ever, and their UK dates are an ideal opportunity to catch them this year.
