Martha are a Durham-based indie punk band known for their heartfelt songwriting, melodic hooks and DIY ethos. Formed in 2011, the quartet quickly became a key part of the UK’s underground punk scene, blending elements of pop-punk and indie with witty, often introspective lyricism. Their debut album Courting Strong (2014) introduced their energetic and emotionally honest style, followed by Blisters in the Pit of My Heart (2016), which further cemented their reputation for sharp songwriting and infectious melodies.
Renowned for their energetic and inclusive live shows, Martha have toured extensively across the UK, Europe and the US, building a dedicated fanbase along the way. They have released subsequent albums including Love Keeps Kicking (2019) and Please Don’t Take Me Back (2023), continuing to evolve their sound while staying true to their DIY roots. With a strong sense of identity and community at their core, Martha remain one of the UK’s most beloved indie punk bands.
