Mariam Doumbia is one half of Amadou & Mariam, the husband-and-wife duo who became Mali's most beloved musical ambassadors. Born in Bamako, she met guitarist Amadou Bagayoko at the city's Institute for Young Blind People, and together they built a sound that joyfully blended West African rhythms with rock, blues and pop. Their breakthrough album Dimanche à Bamako (2004), produced by Manu Chao, brought songs like "Beaux Dimanches" to audiences worldwide, while the Damon Albarn-produced "Sabali" became one of their most celebrated tracks. Along the way they played the main stage at Glastonbury, supported Blur in Hyde Park and toured with Coldplay and U2.
Following Amadou's death in April 2025, Mariam continues their story live, joined by the duo's faithful longtime musicians. Sets weave fan favourites such as "Je pense à toi" with songs from L'Amour à la Folie (2025), the final album the couple wrote and recorded together — a warm, moving celebration of a remarkable life in music.
