London based Mantra draw influence from the heavily distorted guitar sound of 90’s grunge. Combing highly emotive lyrics with haunting melodies, they look set to become massive in 2017.
The band unites the talents of drummer Rob Emms, guitarist Simon Stark taking lead vocals and Rich Leeds playing bass.
See them play when they tear it up at Thousand Island in London and The Eagle Inn at Salford during July 2019.
Mantra tickets are just about to come on sale. Set your personal reminder to alert you with a text message or an email when they are released at 10:00 on Tuesday 7th of May.
Since their formation in 2016, West London’s Mantra have mesmerized listeners with spellbinding melodies propelled by powerhouse riffs and thundering drums.
Signed to Dine Alone Records (Alexisonfire, Jimmy Eat World, Dashboard Confessional) after their demos were heard, the band were sent to the hitmaker recording studio Rockfield in Gwent. There they created their debut EP I Want which features a single of the same name, plus the single Destroy You. Stark states the EP is “mainly focused on consumerism, questioning religious theocracy and social anxiety but the thread that ties them all together is the ever-increasing self-centred nature of people
Alongside performing with Jane’s Addiction, Radkey, and Snow Patrol guitarist Nathan Connolly’s band Little Matador, they have traveled to festivals such as SXSW, Reading and Leeds, and 2000 Trees. This has all set the stage for Mantra’s forthcoming debut album, Dreamland, recorded with producer Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood, Ghost, The Pixies) to intensify their explosive sonic prowess.
Hook-ridden title track, ‘I Want’, crashes in with its heavy groove of a riff and cacophonous drums. The song builds up to a satisfying breakdown, where the drums explode and guitars chime in for the solo - its driving pace, screeching to a halt leaving us for dust. - VultureHound
