Makeshift Art Bar is a noise-rock quartet hailing from Belfast who blend jagged riffs, driving basslines, and textured experimentalism into a formidable sonic statement. Formed in the underground scene, they burst onto the wider UK stage with their debut EP Lackluster Writing Makes Fundamental Reading (January 2025) a four-track whirlwind of poetic provocation and visceral grit captured through distorted guitar, hypnotic rhythm, and undulating lap steel flourishes.
On stage, Makeshift Art Bar is a live force: unforgettable, untamed, and unapologetically fierce. A standout moment came at Manchester’s Band on the Wall, where their blistering set including “Static”, “Claw”, “Bliss” and more chopped and changed through mood and momentum with a jaw-dropping energy that “barely let the foot off the gas”. Having toured the UK and earned slots at festivals like Ypsigrock, All Together Now and Borderline, the Belfast quartet are proving themselves as one of the UK’s most ferocious and exciting emerging bands.
