Emmanuel Kwesi Danso Arthur, better known as Kwesi Arthur, grew up in Tema and became one of the most distinctive voices in Ghanaian hip-hop and rap. His breakout single "Grind Day" (2017) announced a gifted storyteller, and the EPs Live from Nkrumah Krom (2017) and Live from Nkrumah Krom Vol II (2019) built a devoted following at home and abroad. A Viewers' Choice Best International Act nominee at the 2018 BET Awards, he became the second Ghanaian rapper to feature on a BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher, and his 2020 single "Live from 233" ranked among the most-streamed African songs of that year on Apple Music.
His debut album Son of Jacob (2022) showcased the melodic, introspective sound he is loved for, and he has collaborated with the likes of Vic Mensa, Sarkodie, Medikal and Stonebwoy. Now an independent artist, he returned with the candid Redemption Valley (2026), a reflective record exploring identity, healing and self-determination that resonates with listeners across the African diaspora.
