I am Oak is the project of Dutch singer-songwriter Thijs Kuijken, founded in 2008 and celebrated for its delicate blend of folk guitars, poetic lyricism and atmospheric arrangements. Their debut album On Claws (2010) introduced Kuijken’s introspective style, leading to critical acclaim and a loyal following both in the Netherlands and beyond. Over the years, the band has released six albums and five EPs, performed more than 500 shows in 17 countries, and earned accolades including a 3voor12 Award and over 100 million streams.
With Osmosis (2019), I am Oak explored a fuller sound while maintaining the understated intimacy at the heart of their music. Now, with their 2025 album Time Drifts, the band returns to their contemplative roots. The record reflects on aging, the passage of time and life’s quiet moments, reaffirming I am Oak’s reputation for creating music that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.
