Ginger Wildheart (AKA David Leslie Walls) is one of rock’s enduring stars. Whether he is working with The Wildhearts, his band or as a solo artist; he never fails to electrify the audience.
Following being sacked from Quireboys in 1989, Ginger had been drinking hard and fell down a flight of stairs. In his hands a bottle of Jack Daniels remained intact which would have surely sliced his wrists had it shattered. Deciding to commit all to performing, he set about forming the ultimate rock and roll band. Led by Ginger Wildheart, The Wildhearts came to be the epitome of rock and roll.
Giving incredibly fierce shows that make for compulsive viewing and with each new album continuing to melt faces - they still give the young pretenders a run for their money.
The South Shields songwriter has released twelve studio albums under various guises, including Valor Del Corazon (2005), Yoni (2007), Market Harbour (2008), 100% / 555% (2012), (2013) Ghost in the Tanglewood (2017), The Pessimist's Companion (2018), Headzapoppin (2019), Ginger Wildheart & the Sinners (2022), It Came From The North (2023), Teeth (2023) and BeBop Narrative A.D. I've nothing negative to say about this venue. Having visited on several occasions the staff and security are first class and having taken my autistic son to both small and large stages it caters for his needs comfortably. I've followed Ginger Wildheart's musical journey for many years and it was fantastic to see him so positive and to see his songs stripped back was an absolute joy. Songs interspersed by regular bouts of fetch with trusty canine sidekick Maggie were a joyous added bonus. Accompanied by the supporting talent of firstly Baz Francis and the duo of Carol Hodge and Ben Marsden, they combined to mix up a night of magic from beginning to end. All artists pointed to us the paying public with thanks for getting out and supporting live music. As a willing punter I say thank you for giving us a fantastic evening and further evidence to support these fine players and the live music experience. People like this are the reason I survive so thank you.
