Masked, bass-fuelled UK rock collective whose anarchic live shows and fearless experimentation make them one of the country’s most original underground acts.
Evil Blizzard are a boundary-breaking rock collective from Preston, England, known for their bizarre line-up of multiple bassists, a singing drummer and masked onstage personas. Their sound fuses elements of psych-rock, punk, metal and krautrock, often described as “Sabbath-meets-PiL-meets-Killing Joke”, blending deep, rumbling grooves with a chaotic experimental streak. Their early release The Dangers of Evil Blizzard introduced listeners to their unsettling but captivating aesthetic, while Rotting in the Belly of the Whale (2023) pushed that madness further into darkly cinematic territory.
Their live shows are nothing short of legendary — equal parts performance art and sonic assault — with the band donning grotesque masks and encouraging audience participation with odd instruments and anarchic humour. Having played across the UK’s underground and festival circuits, Evil Blizzard have earned a reputation for turning gigs into unpredictable, communal experiences. They’re a band that thrive on discomfort, chaos and bass-driven power.
