Dr John Cooper Clarke, The Venue, Derby - 15th November 2017

Toria Garbutt came on first and had us laughing and in tears
I didnt want her act to end she was that good.
Next.. Mark Garry,, the emotions flowed with his pose and wit.
Definately a Mancunian, it was in his blood..
Break came.. CD and books were bought..
A beer or two and then he approached the stage
It was him standing up there, Dr J C C
Beasley Street, Chickentown, on the turn of a page
A few jokes, and crying with laughter, until I could barely see
Then it was all over and it was back to reality.
if you want a good night
Go see these 3
You wont regret it
Believe me :)

Great performance by all acts. Slightly annoyed by people talking in the bar area, if you want to talk and drink...go to a pub!!

Dr John Cooper Clarke, The Venue, Derby - 15th November 2017

This guy is so unique, quirky and funny we laughed until our faces ached. The 2 supporting poets Toria Garbett and Mike Garry were also fab - a great night!

Dr John Cooper Clarke, The Venue, Derby - 15th November 2017

The Dr was ably assisted by West Yorks tourist board supremo (its bloody grim) and Fallowfield’s top librarian (never knew they could read that side of the Manc way) . Blaming abstention from opiates for his ballooning waist, his obsession with grooming but not in a Rochdale way and his thesis on the 3 million year old Limerick were only the tip of a hilarious iceberg

Dr John Cooper Clarke + Special Guest, The Cube , Malvern - 27th October 2017

Fantastic event in a small informal venue. Great support acts and the big man himself is still brilliant. An amazing performance from the master of poetic wit.

Punk performance poet extraordinaire; Dr John Cooper Clarke certainly has a way with words. His command of language is firmly tied to his Manchester roots, exploring facets of working class life, kitchen sink dramas plus the pitfalls of rock and roll. This bard takes no bullshit.

After releasing numerous albums across the 70’s and 80’s, he has recently released This Time It’s Personal with Hugh Cornwell. Clarke continues to write new material and perform.

He was a seminal influence on punk, a ferociously funny performance poet.” - The Guardian

Shock-haired and irreverent, he's been shaking up the literary establishment with his wry wit and clever couplets for decades. And at 66, the original punk poet is not about to stop any time soon. ” - GQ

He has just announced exciting upcoming live performances later in the year. See him take to the stage at The Cube in Malvern and Electric Palace in Bridport during October, followed by The Venue in Derby, O2 Academy Oxford, O2 Academy Bournemouth and Subscription Rooms during November, 2017.

He also has just announced shows for the new year taking place at Dryden Street Social in Leicester and O2 Academy Oxford in February plus Exeter Phoenix during March of 2018.

Salford lad Clarke became enamoured with the written word whilst at school. Finding himself working as a lab technician, he started his creative career in his band The Ferrets. He struck out on his own and was enjoying success by the early 80’s.

Developing into a folk hero, his recitals are associated with the being in the smoky darkened corner of a gig venue. His wit blended with prose and tales of his salacious past.

Everyone wants to see this cult hero recite his work live, so make sure you book your Dr John Cooper Clarke tickets early or risk missing out.
