Dr John Cooper Clarke , Princes Hall, Clevedon - 19th February 2018

Caught up with JCC in Clevedon after a failed attempt a few years back at the Fleece when my wife fainted after 5 mins. This was a really amusing evening. He was on top form and clearly in a good mood - maybe the sea air. He mused about loving it in Devon for which he was excused. A good mix of old and new ditties plus no little standup and joke telling. Overall good fun in a community hall not used to such events as far as I’m aware. But pretty ideal for this.

Very good concert from Dr John Cooper Clarke. Some rather dubious material in the middle but overall great performance from a great performer.

Dr John Cooper-Clarke gives an amazing performance which is completely absorbing and entertaining. It's easy to forget how original his style is and how groundbreaking it was. The man is a legend.

Dr John Cooper Clarke , Dryden Street Social, Leicester - 8th February 2018

JCC’s brilliant wit and turns of phrase almost made you forget what a dump the venue was. In the end it just showed how fantastic his work and presentation is.
It was a joy and a pleasure to behold.
I didn’t even mind it pissing it down on the way home.

Dr John Cooper Clarke, The Venue, Derby - 15th November 2017

I was like being on an emotional rollercoaster, all artists were absolutely fantastic and I really wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was! I came away with face ache from laughing so much.

Punk performance poet extraordinaire; Dr John Cooper Clarke certainly has a way with words. His command of language is firmly tied to his Manchester roots, exploring facets of working class life, kitchen sink dramas plus the pitfalls of rock and roll. This bard takes no bullshit.

After releasing numerous albums across the 70’s and 80’s, he has recently released This Time It’s Personal with Hugh Cornwell. Clarke continues to write new material and perform.

He was a seminal influence on punk, a ferociously funny performance poet.” - The Guardian

Shock-haired and irreverent, he's been shaking up the literary establishment with his wry wit and clever couplets for decades. And at 66, the original punk poet is not about to stop any time soon. ” - GQ

He has just announced exciting upcoming live performances later in the year. See him take to the stage at The Cube in Malvern and Electric Palace in Bridport during October, followed by The Venue in Derby, O2 Academy Oxford, O2 Academy Bournemouth and Subscription Rooms during November, 2017.

He also has just announced shows for the new year taking place at Dryden Street Social in Leicester and O2 Academy Oxford in February plus Exeter Phoenix during March of 2018.

Salford lad Clarke became enamoured with the written word whilst at school. Finding himself working as a lab technician, he started his creative career in his band The Ferrets. He struck out on his own and was enjoying success by the early 80’s.

Developing into a folk hero, his recitals are associated with the being in the smoky darkened corner of a gig venue. His wit blended with prose and tales of his salacious past.

Everyone wants to see this cult hero recite his work live, so make sure you book your Dr John Cooper Clarke tickets early or risk missing out.
