Brazilian forró music is celebrated and championed in this collaborative project, Dominguinho.
João Gomes, Jota.pê, and Mestrinho are artists all celebrated in their native Brazil; Gomes rising to success following his track, Meu Pedaço de Pecado, the most played song among Brazil's Spotify users as of 1st July 2021; Jota nominated for the 2021 Latin Grammy with his album ONZE; and Mestrinho winning the 2024 Latin Grammy for Best Roots Album with Mariana e Mestrinho.
All three are champions of forró, ‘the music of cowboys’, a wildly popular and historic music genre originating from Brazil’s northeastern coast, which has influences of samba-rock and features the accordion, guitars and Zabumba bass drum. Dominguinho is the collaborative project of Gomes, Jota and Mestrinho, acclaimed by audiences for its sound and tribute to forró.
