New York-born and London-based, DARGZ is the solo project of producer, engineer and songwriter David Dargahi, whose sound weaves together hip-hop, jazz, soul and alt-pop. He first got a taste of life on the road as co-founder of New York indie band The Postelles, whose self-titled debut The Postelles (2011) was produced by Albert Hammond Jr., and who toured with the likes of Vampire Weekend and Interpol.
After moving to London, he trained at the Abbey Road Institute and built a reputation behind the desk, recording Moses Boyd and Poppy Ajudha for Boyd's Mercury-nominated Dark Matter (2020) and working with Flyte along the way. Stepping out under his own name with "Lou's Tune", he went on to release his debut album Happiness (2023), pairing classic New York beats with London jazz talent including Boyd and pianist Charlie Stacey. Follow-up Friends & Family (2025) leaned even further into community and collaboration, with Oscar Jerome, Milan Ring and Taura Lamb among the guests. It's heartfelt, groove-led music made by someone who clearly loves bringing people together.
