Constant Follower is a Scottish band led by songwriter Stephen McAll, whose music blends ambient dream-pop, experimental folk and slowcore into deeply atmospheric soundscapes. Emerging from Stirling with roots in Glasgow, McAll’s writing is shaped by personal trials—especially a life-changing head injury in his youth—and a profound sense of musical rediscovery. The result is music that feels expansive yet intimate, where hushed vocals, sparse instrumentation and emotional physics converge to form something quietly powerful.
Their debut album Neither Is, Nor Ever Was (2021) received acclaim, shortlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year Award and setting the tone for their blend of melancholy and hope. In 2023 they released a collaborative album Even Days Dissolve with guitarist Scott William Urquhart, and their sophomore full-length The Smile You Send Out Returns To You (2025) charted strongly in Scotland and UK independent charts. Constant Follower continue to evolve, offering music that’s equal parts reflective meditation and sweeping emotional terrain.
