Hailing from Cobourg, Ontario, cleopatrick are vocalist and guitarist Luke Gruntz and drummer Ian Fraser. They first turned heads with their gritty breakout single "hometown", which won them a SOCAN Award. Their ferocious debut album BUMMER (2021) then earned a Juno nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year. Their live reputation grew just as quickly, with a set at Lollapalooza, a North American tour supporting Royal Blood and appearances at Reading & Leeds.
The pair followed up with the DOOM (2022) EP, then took a bold left turn on their second album, FAKE MOON (2025). They recorded it in Brooklyn with producer Philip Weinrobe, known for his work with Adrianne Lenker. The album traded some of the volume for hazy, lo-fi textures and a more open, collaborative spirit. The SCRAP (2025) EP brought the heavy guitars and distortion back. UK audiences have taken them to heart, and they've headlined venues such as Nottingham's Rock City and London's Electric Brixton. If you like your rock loud, sweaty and full of heart, cleopatrick are well worth catching live.
