Electronica musician Chet Faker was raised in Melbourne but is now based in Brooklyn. He has won five ARIA Awards including Best Male Artist, Producer Of The Year and Best Independent Album. He has taken first place in the Triple J Hottest 100 for the single Talk Is Cheap and declared as an “artist to watch” by The Guardian.
His first album was titled Built On Glass and saw him hit #1 Australian Album Chart and #2 Billboard Top Heatseekers Albums. Following the success of debut album ‘Built On Glass’, Australia’s Chet Faker releases his brand new track ‘1998’ on 28th July through Future Classic and Opulent. ‘Built on Glass’, which came out early 2014 melds Faker’s luxurious R’n’B vocals with analogue instruments and sounds of early dance music. Chet’s last single ‘Talk is Cheap’ enjoyed extensive media support including BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6Music airplay, plus the music video for the track has received well over 2.5million views on YouTube alone.
Faker’s new single ‘1998’ pulsates with soul-fused vocals coupled with the sounds of early house records - bringing to the table substance with style, rather than style aching to be considered substance.
Chet Faker has been on a dream run since the release of his Gold-selling EP ‘Thinking in Textures’ which won the Australian Independent Record Award for Best Independent Single/EP in 2012. Following the EP’s release Faker found himself enjoying sell-out shows across Australia, the US, UK which included London’s KOKO and a series of heralded collaborations with Say Lou Lou, Kilo Kish and Flume. Chet has also been nominated for two Rolling Stone Awards for Best New Talent and Best Independent Release, winning Best Independent Release. His collaboration with Flume, ‘Drop the Game’ and Lockjaw EP, was certified Gold within weeks of its release and came in at #5 in the 2013 Hottest 100.
