Carminho is one of Portugal’s most celebrated fado singers, renowned for her exquisite vocal warmth, emotional depth and a modern sensibility that honours tradition while pushing the genre forward. Born Carmo Rebelo de Andrade into a family of fado musicians, she grew up surrounded by the music’s poetry and saudade — the unmistakable feeling of longing at its heart. Her debut album Fado (2009) became a global success, praised for its purity and honesty, and was followed by acclaimed releases including Alma (2012), Canto (2014) and Maria (2018). Across each record, Carminho blends classic fado with gentle touches of jazz, Brazilian music and contemporary songwriting, all carried by her breathtaking voice and profound interpretative skill.
