Boy & Bear are an Australian indie folk-rock band from Sydney, formed in 2009. The line-up features David Hosking (vocals, guitar), Killian Gavin (vocals, guitar), Tim Hart (drums, vocals, banjo/mandolin), Jon Hart (keys, vocals) and David Symes (bass) — all of whom bring strong songwriting instincts and band cohesion. From early days playing small venues they swiftly made their mark, drawing comparisons to the likes of Fleet Foxes and other rich harmony-driven acts.
Their debut album Moonfire (2011) reached No. 2 on the ARIA charts and introduced audiences to standout tracks like “Feeding Line”. They followed with Harlequin Dream (2013) and Limit of Love (2015), both of which achieved No. 1 in Australia and helped broaden their reputation internationally. Their more recent self-titled album Boy & Bear (2023) showcased renewed sonic depth and independence. With their blend of rich instrumentation, thoughtful lyrics and strong melodies, Boy & Bear continue to be a vital force in modern Australian songwriting.
