Bombino is a Tuareg guitarist and singer-songwriter from Niger, renowned for his hypnotic blend of desert blues, rock, and traditional West African music. Born Omara Moctar, he grew up amid the political struggles of the Tuareg people, channeling their stories of resilience and longing into his music. His signature blues-infused guitar playing and soulful vocals have drawn comparisons to Ali Farka Touré and Jimi Hendrix, earning him international acclaim.
His breakthrough album, Agadez (2011), introduced the world to his mesmerising guitar work and deeply personal storytelling. He later collaborated with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys on Nomad (2013), which expanded his sound while staying true to his roots. Albums like Azel (2016) and Deran (2018), the latter receiving a Grammy nomination, further cemented his status as a leading figure in Saharan rock. Known for his electrifying live performances, Bombino has played major festivals worldwide, bringing the spirit of Tuareg music to global audiences.
