About Big Truck

Big Truck is the new band fronted by Laurie Vincent, best known as one half of the punk duo SOFT PLAY (formerly Slaves). It finds him in a warmer, more expansive mood, swapping abrasion for atmosphere with jangly indie-pop hooks, cinematic sweep and a melancholy '80s Brit-indie streak. He's joined by drummer Sam Coppins, guitarist Asa Thallon and keyboardist Justin Myles, a line-up whose jazz, metal and soul backgrounds give the songs real depth. Nods to The Cure, The Smiths, The War on Drugs and Sam Fender sit alongside lyrics that are candid, wry and unmistakably human.

The band arrived with debut single "Central Reservation Blues" and quickly built a reputation as a live proposition, drawing big crowds at The Great Escape. Their debut album, Midday at the Middleway (2026), followed on Marshall Records, recorded in just four days of loose, immediate sessions and led by the waltzing single "Collided". It's music that balances life's small joys with its inevitable lows, and on stage it lands with warmth, character and an easy, unforced charm.
