Big Thief are an American indie-folk band formed in Brooklyn in 2015 by vocalist and guitarist Adrianne Lenker, guitarist Buck Meek, bassist Max Oleartchik and drummer James Krivchenia. Their early releases, including Masterpiece (2016) and Capacity (2017), drew acclaim for their raw lyricism and delicate, intimate arrangements. It was their third album, U.F.O.F. (2019), however, that marked a breakthrough earning a Grammy nomination and establishing Big Thief as one of the most vital voices in contemporary indie music. Just five months later they released Two Hands (2019), praised for its earthier, stripped-back sound, cementing their reputation for prolific creativity.
In 2022, the band unveiled the ambitious double album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You, a sprawling 20-track collection that showcased the full range of their artistry from fragile folk ballads to sprawling rock explorations. Big Thief have graced UK stages at Glastonbury, End of the Road and Green Man Festival, as well as selling out headline shows across Europe. Known for their emotional honesty and adventurous spirit, they continue to inspire a devoted global following with music that balances intimacy and expansiveness in equal measure.
